About Royal Arch Chapter Freemasonry

The Royal arch is the completion of Craft Freemasonry. Its members, who must have been initiated into Craft Masonry for at least four weeks, are called Companions and meet in individual Chapters under a Spanish Grand Chapter. Chapters are ruled over by three Principals, who rule conjointly.

In Spain the Royal Arch has four ceremonies: the exaltation ceremony, to bring in new members and an installation ceremony for each of the three Principals. The exaltation ceremony is in two parts: a rather dramatic presentation of the principles of the Holy Royal Arch Order, followed by three Lectures in which the history, symbolism and principles of the Royal Arch are further explained. Like Craft Freemasonry, the Royal Arch is open to Brethren of all faiths.

The Royal Arch is considered to be the completion of "Pure Ancient Masonry". In the Craft the candidate is taught a series of practical principles and tenets of life which, should he practice them assiduously, will help him to live a life of service to his fellow man. Man has a Spiritual as well as Practical nature to his being; The Royal Arch helps to complete the practical lessons of the Craft by a contemplation of man's spiritual nature, not replacing but reinforcing and supporting what he has learned from his own religion.

In order to qualify for Membership of the Holy Royal Arch :- A Master Mason must be a currently subscribing member of a regular Craft Lodge, in any Constitution recognised by the Grand Lodge of Spain. Royal Arch Masonry is NOT a separate degree, it is the fulfillment of the Third Degree in Craft Masonry and no Master Mason’s experience is complete, until he has been exalted into this Supreme Order of Masonry.

Any such Master Masons wishing to complete their initiation are invited to apply for membership to
